Day 20--Tuesday, July 13, Homer

Broke camp and made our way to Homer. S is pouting -- he doesn't want to leave--camped here for 10 days! Leaving for Homer. . .

Romey, Mary, and Lucas met us in Anchor Point for lunch at Romey's favorite place for calamari.

Mama and baby moose on the way to Homer. Lots of moose--have not seen a bear yet!

Coming onto the spit is a "king hole"--a place the natives dug out to capture the salmon. The kings come in on high tide and can't get out. The salmon were making waves around the hole--S hopes to fish there tomorrow.

We went on to Homer and found a spot right on the inlet on the spit. This is the view from the campground--breathtaking--water was calm but very foggy. Glad we didn't fish in the fog!

Rained all day long--cold, rain, fog. The locals? Loving it--had two people today tell me how much they like the rain!

Set up camp and spent the rest of the night at the Salty Dog.

Set up a wireless connection--256k--really? So, obviously no pics from here!

  1. Karen -- hope you got pics of the Salty Dog -- supposed to be an historic icon!
