Day 21--Wednesday, July 14--On the "spit"

Welcome to Homer!  Our fish! (we wish) Beautiful day! First day I've worn capris for an entire day! S was planning to fish the "king hole" but tide doesn't come in till 6p and we'll be gone. Currently, he is fishing in the Kenai right below the visitor's center while I update the blog.

This is the current leader in the Homer fishing derby--we each entered for $10/day but our 40 lb halibut doesn't have a chance--this one is 272 lbs!

Shopping! Fun place to wonder about--have bought most of the mementos we will have to ship home!

Homer's fishermen's memorial--for those souls lost to the sea.

Lunch at the Crooked Hook overlooking the pier--fish tacos and fish and chips! YUM!

Beautiful vistas leaving Homer--when we arrived, the inlet was completely fogged in.

You can see the spit in the upper left corner. Mountains, volcanoes, glaciers, the ocean--what more could you want!

After 14 days on the pennisula, we are attempting to make our way north--planning to stay at Captain Cook campground tonight but Romey has a dip netting trip planned for the afternoon--we'll see where we end up!
